Airplane Mode by George Iglesias
Buckle up for a routine that turns every audience member into a passenger on a mind-bending flight. Airplane Mode isn't just a trick; it’s a fully scripted, 10-minute mentalism act that fits right into your briefcase.
The routine begins with a relatable premise: despite being life-saving, nobody ever reads the airplane emergency card. After handing a card to a spectator for 'safekeeping,' the journey begins.
Your volunteer selects a unique boarding pass from a stack of 30, chooses a drink from an in-flight menu, and even picks a secret movie from a glossy airplane magazine.
The Flight Plan:
- The Mind Read: you reveal the spectator's movie, their lead actor, and even the soundtrack they’re hearing in their head.
- The Impossible Reveal: You accurately name their seat number, boarding group, and final destination, details they chose freely from dozens of options.
- The Destiny Kicker: The emergency card they’ve been holding the entire time is unfolded ... the 'safety illustrations' aren't generic, they are drawings of every single choice made during the show.
The card then unfolds into a giant poster for a massive visual climax! - The Liquid Twist: Remember that 'wrong' drink choice? In a final sucker-punch ending, the orange juice box they’ve been staring at is lifted to reveal a real glass of the exact drink they asked for.
It is easy to perform, allowing you to focus entirely on the presentation and comedy.
Using recognisable objects like magazines and juice boxes, it strips away the prop feel, making the mentalism feel grounded.
